Joaquin Mendez has been practicing law since 1986 and criminal defense since 1990. He graduated with Honors from Princeton University and the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he was an Editor of the Law Review. His main interest in law school was labor law and he has handled numerous labor and employment law matters over the years.
For over 30 years, however, Joaquin has specializesd in federal criminal defense. He has appeared in federal court in over 450 cases. He has tried over 75 federal criminal jury trials, and has handled over 50 appeals before the United States Courts of Appeals. He also has considerable experience in the Florida criminal justice system.
Over the years, Joaquin has received several professional awards and recognitions, and has given numerous lectures and presentations on the subject of criminal defense to lawyers and law students.
Joaquin is the Director of the Raymond Bravo Fund at the Miami Foundation. Among other projects, the Raymond Bravo Fund awards scholarship funds to graduating high school students and financial assistance to improve the quality of education at underserved local high schools.
